No visible systems when logging on as a different user
Question:
None of the systems appear in the console if you log in as a different user. Meaning, the first user setup a list of systems, when he was logged in. However, when I or another user log on to the system as our own account, the console does not show any of the systems. This makes it seem like every console administrator would need to setup up the console. Is this correct?
Answer:
This is not correct. When a new user opens up the tool for the first time, they will open up to a group called "Default" if that group still exists. The lists of systems that are created are global to the tool which means any user who can launch the tool will be able to see all systems lists and all systems in those lists - they simply need to look at the appropriate systems list. To change the systems list, you may select the "Change Group" button on the left side of the screen which will open a dialog where you will be able to see all of the systems lists that are configured in RPM. To open one of those lists, simply select the list and the click the "Activate" button towards the lower left corner of this dialog. Also make note of which view you are in - systems or accounts. In the title bar of RPM you see a title like this:
Random Password Manager: CURRENT GROUP: Default - Systems
This means in Random Password Manager, we are looking at a group called "Default" in the systems view. To change to the accounts view, you may go to the VIEW menu and select ACCOUNTS.
