Default RSA Authentication with 64bit Versions of Windows

RSA Authentication with 64bit Versions of Windows

    Date: 01/04/2010
    Revision: 1.5

    Problem

Random Password Manager or Enterprise Random Password Manager cannot be made to work with RSA authentication on 64bit versions of Windows.

    Cause

RSA Authentication Client version 6.4 is the first RSA client authentication module provided for 64bit Windows platforms as a native 64bit piece of software. RSA has not yet included interfaces for any third party vendors to inter-operate with their client interface.

    Resolution

At this time there is no resolution as we are all at the mercy of RSA to release additional interfaces and SDK components for their 64bit software. As a workaround, on your 64-bit host platform, install the 32-bit RSA client.

    Abstract

Our implementation of RSA authentication was performed on 32-bit versions of Windows excluding 32-bit Windows Vista as this was not a supported platform using version 6.1 of the RSA authentication client. Version 7.0 of the RSA authentication module should support Windows Vista, but like the v6.4 Client Authentication module, contains no interfaces for third party vendors nor does it offer an SDK.

For more information about our product and RSA integration, please read the following: http://www.rsa.com/rsasecured/guides...AuthMan6.1.pdf

    Applies To:

    Random Password Manager (RPM)
    Enterprise Random Password Manager (ERPM)
